Fortunium
Fortunium sounds like it should have a Roman theme, however in fact it takes it inspiration from Steam Punk. Developed by Stormcraft for Micgrogaming, this is a 5 reel, 5 column, 40 payline slot. It's main features are a Win Booster, Mystery Symbols and a Free Spins bonus round.
Wagering on Fortunium starts at just 10p a spin and increases to a maximum of £125. However, by selecting the 'Win Booster' button at the bottom left of the slot, you increase the wager. With Win Booster the wagers range from 15p to £187.50. As a reward for using the button, any Mystery Symbols will always be high value or wilds.
Mystery Symbols
As far as we're aware there's no autoplay option on the slot. However, by selecting the three bar button on the left of the slot you can toggle the sound and speed of the game. We found that Fortunium looks better on mobile, but it plays equally well on desktop and tablet.
Mystery Symbols appear at random on the reels and are denoted by a ? symbol. These will reveal to show the same symbol at the end of the spin to hopefully generate big wins. The main symbols are a male and female character - Maximillian and Victoria - and they can appear as stack of 5 on the columns. Other symbols include card icons and steam punk objects.
Free Spins
The Free Spins round is activated when 3 or more scatter symbols (green circles) appear on the reels. During this round you receive 10 spins with Mystery Reels appearing on reels 2, 3 and 4. The number of reels that will show Mystery Reels is determined by how many scatters you had to activate the bonus round.
Fortunium looks great visually and gameplay is smooth. The bonus features are a little on the simplistic side, but that doesn't take anything away from the game. The steampunk theme works well for slots, for example Steam Tower, but perhaps isn't used enough. Hopefully Fortunium will spark a change in fortune for this genre of slots.
Fortunium has an RTP of 96.47% and is considered to be medium variance.
